FARTIST FAYE LEISTER

After leaving high school I studied Visual Arts for six years full time at City Art Institute UNSW, St George TAFE, The National Art School and Julian Ashton Art School and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts) and Art Certificate. Some years later I also studied Education at The University of Sydney (Graduate Diploma of Education) as well as History.

After six years at Art School I moved to the Blue Mountains with my partner and opened an Art Gallery exhibiting our own work as well as a few select artists. Interest in many other artistic fields eventually led me into Art Teaching (Adults), School Teaching, (Primary), Book Illustration, Astrology (practice and teaching), Music (Irish Fiddle), African Dance (Urban Tribal), Belly Dance with the trio Cabaret Arabia, Dance Teaching and Performing.

As well as Art and Dance, my other passion is for animals and I have donated paintings for auction to assist WSPA, Colombo stray dogs, Orangutans, Indian Elephants, Borneo Bear Sanctuaries and Rehabilitation, Free the Bears, Animals Asia and The Sydney Dog and Cats Home.

I have just completed my fifth illustrated educational book called 'Animals an Us - Teaching Positive Values' years 2- 6 and a created a website to go with it www.animalsandus.com.au Some of the pages from this book can also be seen on the Voiceless  website.

For more about Art and Animals please go to Gallery 4 to see this month's animal charity.
